Sant Ravidas Ji संत रविदास जी

Sant Ravidas Ji is also known as Bhagat Ravidas, Guru Ravidas, Raidas, Rohidas and Ruhidas. He lived in the 15th century. His devotional songs and verses made a lasting impact upon the Bhakti movement. He was a socio-religious reformer, a thinker, a theosophist, a humanist and a poet. He was a shoemaker of the Kutbandhla Chamar caste. His 40 devotional songs were included in the Shri Guru Granth Sahib by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. There is also a larger body of hymns passed on independently that is claimed and attributed to Ravidas. His poetry is brimming with ardent love for God, Universe, Nature, Guru, and the Divine Name.

संत रविदास जी को भक्त रविदास, गुरू रविदास, रैदास, रोहीदास और रूहीदास के नामों से भी जाना जाता है। वह पंद्रहवीं सदी में हुए। उनकी रचना का भक्ति-विचारधारा पर गहरा प्रभाव पड़ा। वह एक समाज-सुधारक, मानववादी, धार्मिक चिंतक और महान कवि थे। उनका सम्बन्ध दुनियावी तौर पर कुटबांढला चमार जाति के साथ था। उनके ४० शब्द श्री गुरू ग्रंथ साहिब में दर्ज हैं। इसके अलावा भी उनकी रचनाएँ मिलती हैं। उनकी रचना ईश्वर, गुरू, ब्रह्मांड और कुदरत के साथ प्रेम का संदेश देती हुई मानव की भलाई पर ज़ोर देती है।
