Ayodhya Singh Upadhyay ‘Hariaudh' (April 15, 1865 - March 16, 1947) was born at Nizamabad, Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. His father Pandit Bholanath Upadhyay embraced Sikh religion and changed his name to Bhola Singh. Hariaudh had to leave college education due to ill health. He then studied Sanskrit, Urdu, Persian and English at home and in 1884 became a teacher in middle school at Nizamabad. He got a government job in 1889. After retiring from the post he worked in Hindi Department of Banaras Hindu University from 1932-1941. His Poetical Works are: Priy Pravas, Vaidehi Vanvas, Parijat, Kalplata, Phool Patte etc.
